Le pr\u00e9sident s\u00e9n\u00e9galais Bassirou Diomaye Faye a officiellement pris les r\u00eanes de la CEDEAO<\/a> ce 19 juillet 2026, \u00e0 l’issue du 69\u1d49 sommet<\/a> des chefs d’\u00c9tat et de gouvernement de l’organisation \u00e0 Freetown. D\u00e8s sa prise de fonction, il a d\u00e9voil\u00e9 un programme ax\u00e9 sur trois chantiers majeurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une CEDEAO plus autonome face au terrorisme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

La priorit\u00e9 absolue du nouveau pr\u00e9sident en exercice est s\u00e9curitaire. Bassirou Diomaye Faye entend faire de la lutte contre le terrorisme le fer de lance de son mandat, face \u00e0 une menace qui fragilise durablement la stabilit\u00e9 ouest-africaine. Il appelle \u00e0 une r\u00e9ponse r\u00e9gionale \u00ab plus forte et plus r\u00e9siliente \u00bb, capable de prot\u00e9ger efficacement les populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’ind\u00e9pendance financi\u00e8re comme levier d’action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deuxi\u00e8me objectif cl\u00e9 : r\u00e9duire la d\u00e9pendance de l’institution vis-\u00e0-vis des bailleurs ext\u00e9rieurs. Le chef de l’\u00c9tat s\u00e9n\u00e9galais veut acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer l’autonomie financi\u00e8re de la CEDEAO pour lui donner les moyens de ses ambitions. Une mani\u00e8re, selon lui, de renforcer sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 agir sans entraves sur les dossiers r\u00e9gionaux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relancer l’int\u00e9gration \u00e9conomique r\u00e9gionale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfin, Bassirou Diomaye Faye place l’int\u00e9gration \u00e9conomique au c\u0153ur de son projet. Il entend donner un nouvel \u00e9lan \u00e0 la libre circulation des biens et des personnes, et consolider la coop\u00e9ration entre \u00c9tats membres pour b\u00e2tir une Afrique de l’Ouest \u00ab unie, stable et prosp\u00e8re \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avec ces trois priorit\u00e9s \u2013 s\u00e9curit\u00e9, autonomie financi\u00e8re et int\u00e9gration \u2013 le pr\u00e9sident s\u00e9n\u00e9galais affiche sa volont\u00e9 de marquer son mandat d’une empreinte r\u00e9solument tourn\u00e9e vers la souverainet\u00e9 r\u00e9gionale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
